Council has established a structure to oversee and support the master planning process. That structure is shown in the following chart:

Council is working with the following key groups to complete Mount Peter master planning:
-
Mount Peter Master Planning Taskforce - a partnership between Cairns Regional Council, landholders in the study area and community members. The taskforce is independently chaired and it is working to ensure that Mount Peter will meet the future needs of the area in terms of jobs, housing, education, health and recreation.
The Master Planning Taskforce is responsible for the general guidance and appropriate management of the project, including risk monitoring, quality and timeliness. Taskforce Minutes
-
Community and Landowner Reference Group - an advisory group that enables local landowners and community members to contribute local knowledge to the master planning process.
This group is a link between landowners in the study area and members of the general community with an interest in planning for Mount Peter.
The Reference Group collaborates with Council, the Taskforce, and the master planning group, serving as a sounding board for ideas. The Reference Group also helps to build local community awareness about the project. Reference Group Minutes
-
State Agency Reference Group - is responsible for ensuring that the relevant State Government agencies contribute their knowledge and future planning requirements to the master planning process.
Mount Peter master planning will also inform Government Agency budgeting processes, to ensure the timely and appropriate provision of appropriate infrastructure.
-
Master Planning Group - Following an extensive tendering process conducted in 2007, Council selected a group led by Cardno to complete Mount Peter master planning in partnership with Council.
