The master planning group selected by Council to complete the Mount Peter Structure Plan is a consortium led by Cardno.

The group is comprised of:

• Cardno - a national engineering company who have an office of 30 people in Cairns. For the Mount Peter Structure Plan, Cardno are the principal or lead consultants. They are responsible for overall project management and infrastructure planning. Cardno's team has expertise in project management, urban development, water and sewerage engineering, wastewater management, hydrology, highways, roads and traffic engineering, environmental management, geotechnical engineering and power.

• ML Design - the lead master planners for Mount Peter. ML Design is an urban design practice with extensive experience in a range of master planning projects. For ML Design master planning is more than merely arranging land uses on a sheet of paper. ML's approach to master planning is based on a thorough understanding of ‘place' including the unique values and characteristics of the local area.

• Elton Consulting - responsible for consultation with community members, state agencies and key stakeholders including landowners. Elton Consulting will also prepare plans for community facilities, community development, human services and housing. Elton Consulting has a broad range of experience on master planning projects in Queensland and throughout Australia.

• SGS Economics and Planning - responsible for the economic development strategy to support the structure plan. SGS will also develop the population projections which many of the decisions about type and quantity of infrastructure will depend. SGS possess specialist skills in identification of key economic strengths and opportunities, economic development strategy, economic impacts of land use planning and development of business cluster strategies.

• DPZ Pacific - an international design firm that specialises in new urbanist design and design for tropical climates. For the Mount Peter project DPZ Pacific will provide advice and assistance to the lead urban designers on master planning and tropical design.

• Archaeo Cultural Heritage Services - Queensland based cultural heritage consultants who specialise in cultural heritage assessment, advice and management planning.

• Continuum Group - an experienced Queensland based project management firm who specialise in land planning and development projects. For Mount Peter, Continuum will assist Cardno in the overall project coordination and management of the master planning process.
