The Mount Peter master planning study area contains approximately 1550 hectares of potentially developable land.  It is primarily a rural area that includes sugar cane farms and a quarry.

Although the existing communities of Gordonvale and Edmonton are not physically within the study area, the master planning process will consider these areas and will involve Gordonvale and Edmonton residents (as well as residents of other communities in the surrounding area) in the planning process.

Mount Peter master planning will also consider the wider physical context, taking into account water catchments and other environmental features that may be nearby but are not within the study area boundary.

Separate from this project, planning is currently underway for Edmonton Town Centre.
